About Jackie Gehrt

As a Fish and Wildlife Biologist with the Missouri Ecological Services Field Office, Jackie leads plant and pollinator recovery efforts across the state. Her work centers on conserving native plant communities, supporting at‑risk and listed species, and advancing landscape‑scale strategies that sustain Missouri’s pollinators, including monarch butterflies, native bees, and specialized plant–pollinator partnerships. With a background in fire ecology, she integrates prescribed fire and disturbance‑based management into recovery planning to restore ecological processes essential for resilient prairie, savanna, and woodland ecosystems. This interdisciplinary approach bridges botany, wildlife biology, and habitat management, ensuring science‑driven guidance for partners, land managers, and conservation collaborators. Jackie works closely with federal, state, and local partners to promote stewardship that benefits both Missouri’s biodiversity and the communities that depend on it.
